ISB Social Media Account Policy
Introduction and Purpose
This policy applies to all ISB-affiliated social media accounts that are set up as “personal” accounts which are secondary to our main ISB business profile accounts. These accounts are designed to share real-time updates on curricular and extracurricular activities within specific subject areas. The primary goal is to engage with our student audience, foster a sense of community, and highlight learning experiences at ISB.
Policy and Guidelines
Compliance with ISB Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Policies
The ISB Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies apply to all social media content. For instance, student names may not be used unless written permission is obtained from both students and parents.
Account Approval and Authorization
All new ISB social media accounts must be approved by both the IT Director and the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Only designated members of the ISB Leadership Team, the Marketing Department, or authorized individuals may manage or post on the account. Unauthorized sharing of account credentials is strictly prohibited.
Content Guidelines
Content should strictly focus on educational activities, learning experiences, and curricular achievements at ISB. This is not the platform for general announcements (e.g., scheduling changes, busing information, or health clinic updates).
All content should align with ISB’s brand voice and mission, reflecting the school’s values in a positive and professional manner. Any content that could be interpreted as unprofessional, inappropriate, or misrepresentative of ISB may be removed by the ISB Leadership Team or Marketing Department.
Privacy Settings and Follower Management
All ISB-affiliated accounts must be set to “private” to control follower access. The account handle can be shared within the ISB community, allowing interested followers to send follow requests.
When accepting followers, a quick check should be conducted to ensure their profile does not contain inappropriate content. This includes reviewing profile pictures and any visible content.
Accounts should have basic filters enabled to restrict inappropriate comments. Followers may be blocked if they engage in inappropriate behavior or fail to align with ISB’s values.
Content Approval for Sensitive or Major Announcements
Any content that may contain sensitive information, address a major school event, or potentially impact the school’s reputation must be reviewed by the Marketing Department before posting.
Visual and Copyright Standards
All images and videos must be appropriate, high-quality, and representative of ISB’s educational environment. Ensure all visuals adhere to copyright laws and secure permissions if content includes material from external sources.
Social Media Interactions and Engagement
Avoid engaging in debates or discussions that could escalate into conflicts, especially on sensitive topics. All responses should be courteous, professional, and reflect the values of ISB.
Direct any complex inquiries, complaints, or sensitive feedback to appropriate ISB channels rather than addressing them publicly on social media.
Account Security and Password Management
Passwords should be strong, unique, and regularly updated. They should not be shared with anyone other than approved account managers.
Immediately report any signs of a security breach or suspicious activity to the IT Department.
Oversight and Content Removal
The ISB Leadership Team and Marketing Department have the authority to monitor and, if necessary, remove content that does not comply with this policy or that may be deemed inappropriate for ISB’s online presence.
Annual Account Review
All ISB-affiliated social media accounts will undergo an annual review by the Marketing Department to ensure they are effectively managed, secure, and aligned with the school’s goals and policies.
Consequences of Policy Violations
Non-compliance with these guidelines may result in the temporary or permanent suspension of the social media account. In cases of repeated violations, the staff member responsible may face additional disciplinary actions as deemed appropriate by ISB administration.
Final Note
This policy is subject to periodic updates, and ISB reserves the right to adjust guidelines as necessary to protect the interests of the school community. Please reach out to the Marketing Department for any questions or clarifications regarding this policy.
