ISB is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment in which our students can grow and develop to their full potential and are protected from harm.
This site documents the measures taken by ISB to create a safe and nurturing environment for all of the children we come into contact with in our work. In addition this site outlines the procedures we use to ensure that we fulfill our professional and ethical obligation to identify children who are in need of help and protection and to take appropriate action to ensure their wellbeing. Furthermore, this site establishes the expectations of ISB Employees and Associates. An ISB Associate is defined as any person who is not an ISB employee and who works autonomously with ISB students either independently, or in small groups, who operates in either a contracted or subcontracted (paid or unpaid) role. Examples include: coaches, tutors, after school community programs, long-term volunteers
ISB’s safeguarding principles are based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the International Standards for Keeping Children Safe Coalition.
All children have equal rights to protection from abuse and exploitation.
All children should be encouraged to fulfil their potential and inequalities should be challenged.
Everybody has a responsibility to support the care and protection of children.
ISB has a duty of care to children with whom they work and with whom their representatives work.
ISB has a responsibility to help partners meet the minimum requirements on protection.
All actions on child protection are taken in the best interests of the child, which are paramount.
