All certified and classified staff are mandated reporters and play a critical role in safeguarding students at ISB. Every staff member shares responsibility for protecting student safety and wellbeing and is required to report any safeguarding concern, suspicion, disclosure, or observed behavior that may indicate a student is at risk of harm. Staff are not responsible for investigating concerns or determining whether abuse or harm has occurred. Their responsibility is to recognize concerns, respond appropriately, document relevant information, and report concerns promptly in accordance with ISB safeguarding procedures. Safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and timely reporting by all staff is essential to ensuring student safety and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities include:
Reporting any safeguarding concern or suspicion immediately
Responding appropriately to student disclosures
Maintaining professional boundaries and following the ISB Code of Conduct
Participating in annual safeguarding training and professional learning
Supporting a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students
Collaborating with safeguarding teams and school leadership when concerns arise
